Teaching Children to Shoot

Teaching children to shoot while they are growing up is important so that they are familiar and comfortable being around firearms. Instructing them in the proper way to handle a variety of different types of of weapons ensures that they always confident in their own knowledge of what is in front of them. My family taught me, and I'm doing the same (though just a little bit differently) with my kids. Nerf guns I know what you are thinking. Nerf guns are not real!! You're right. Nerf guns are not real guns. But they are great teaching tools. Opinions are [...]

Behind the Curtain at F-1 Firearms

Let me tell you there are some BADASS perks to living just down the street from F-1 Firearms. This last week, after someone from F-1 saw a review we wrote about their product a while back, I was invited to tour the F-1 Firearms shop to see for myself how their most amazing skeletonized AR-15 is made--and to get a sneak peek at what else they have in development. Your next rifle could be in this picture right here, hanging on this rack! I was wide-eyed and drooling from the moment I stepped behind the curtain at F-1 [...]

Bioscarf Product Review

The Bioscarf is by the far the best product I have ever been asked to review. EarthEasy sent me the scarf over a month ago and it has turned into a great EDC item. Besides being a well made scarf that looks good and keeps you warm, it also functions as an N95 air filter. And wearing it reminds me of a joke from the comedian Mitch Hedberg: An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You should never see an "Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order" sign, just "Escalator Temporarily Stairs." Sorry for the convenience. - Mitch Hedberg [...]

Support Mark “Merriwether” Vorderbruggen

Since I started Surviving Prepper, I have met some really great people -- in person and virtually -- who have interests similar to mine. But prior to starting this site, I met a man who was passionate and very knowledgeable about foraging. You may know him from his Merriwether's Foraging page on FaceBook. His name is Mark "Merriwether" Vorderbruggen. I met Mark at the Houston Arboretum wow probably ten years ago. He does classes all around the Houston area. His website Foraging Texas is a treasure trove of information that covers over 200 wild plants that are edible. These plants [...]
